Today, I began work on my Model 33 tape punch. It was prettywell gummed up. In fact when I turned it on, it would stop the typing unit fromworking correctly. So, I dis-assembled it and cleaned as good as I could, and re-assembledit. Most of the trouble was with the punch pins and where the paper tape runs. Most of them were stuck. I used alittle rubbing alcohol to clean the stems and then gently worked them to getthem free. A little lube as added to the bottom. I was not sure whether or notto lube the tops, were the paper runs, figuring that it may gum up the paper. So,I thought that I'd try punching something. Since I don't have any paper tape, yet. I cut astrip of my own. And it worked, well kinda. See picture. I typed the alphabetand the numbers. I got punches for each, but not all were correct. I was notfamiliar with the paper tape coding until today, It's pretty simple. Although, the punches were not correct, but at least it'sworking. Maybe a little more oil here and there.
