Some years back I tried to promote a "green key night" around February
20 to celebrate the date when hams were first allowed to use FSK on the
HF bands.  There were no rules, but use a mechanical TTY if you can,
use 850 Hz shift if you can, it's not a contest, just make contacts
and have fun.  Participation was highly limited.  I suppose one reason
is that Feb 20 usually falls on a week day.  Back in ancient times
RTTY magazine sponsored the first RTTY contests, one being the 
"anniversary" contest on the weekend nearest Feb 20.
