Hi all...
Just wanted to jump in on the i-Telex discussions re: compatibility of
the Western Union call control units with the Siemens TW-39 i-Telex
board controller as supplied for the i-Telex installations...
I recently aquired a complete Western Union M32ASR, Telex version on Ebay
and it has the identical board setup in the UCC as the Canadian version
used on the CNCP network...
The "Long" board in the UCC, is a later version issued by Teletype,
which permits
operation on 40 or 60ma, 60V or 120VDC, without resistor changes which
were neccessary on the earlier versions...The "Long" board also has the W.U.
markings on it, same as in my Canadian model...The SMD board, depending
which version you have, may be marked 40ma...
There were some instances on very long loops, where it was almost to the point
where a "Polar" adapter was needed, a 20ma/60VDC set-up was used
where both the SMD and the long board (Signal board) had to have several
resistor changes made...
If your M32 has a UCC-9 installed, it will work perfectly with the i-Telex
system, provided it has the dual 40/60ma "Long" board installed...
Hope this helps...
Cheers!
