Today, I finished work on the reader and it is working justfine. I had a little trouble with the tape out tab, there was a burr on it andit would not push in and would tear the paper. I was trying to use the oldyellowed paper which is also very brittle. It would punch OK, but the readerwould rip it up. So, I cut up some regular paper into strips for testing. I'vegot some tape coming.  I had to readjust the distributor clutch a little, occasionally it would not catch after a character. Does this need attentiononce in a while?  Also, I noticed on along carriage return the print head would bounce a little and the firstcharacter printed would be in the 4th character position. I suspect thedash-pot. Is there anything I can do with it? How about a little oil on theseal? Then occasionally, not very often the line feed will only advance maybe1/2 line. I was reading about this recently and may try some of thosesuggestions. It could also be the old paper I'm using.  I also don't have the front cover panel. The one that isabout 2" tall and maybe 18" long. It covers the local/line switch andthe front screws. I figure that I'll make something out of thin aluminum. Also the original feet were almost completely rotted off. I'm going to fold up some new ones after a while to replace the temporary (who knows, maybe permanent) wooden ones.
The last item to work on is the 20ma to RS-232 converter. Ihave some parts ordered, but they have not shown up yet. I want to thank everyonefor all the help I received on this project. I'm sure this machine will provideenough service to last 'my' life time. Mike Zahorik (414) 254-6768
