The newer generations of water-based / biodegradable cleaners can be pretty
amazing. There's a product that's been around since the early 90s, called
S100 Motorcycle Cleaner. The stuff is severely overpriced, but it does an
amazing job on bikes - just spray on, wait, hose off.. and the dang thing
is like new. Even removes chain lube throwoff on wheels etc.
Might also be suitable for our purposes, and more economical at the scale
of a TTY or similar machine.
Another product line I came across some years ago is called StrongArm -
it's a line of cleaners, de-greasers / de-rusters and penetrants. Amazing
stuff, in every case where I used it or saw it used. It's generally sold at
cycle / machinery meets and so forth.
