Oh My! In my youth as a USAF  30454 ground radio repairman  I  had   one of 
these in my tool box. Truly it saved mea number of   times. Thanks  for  
reminded me of this. I should set another.  Thanks  for the  source link! Doug!

The special tool might be this:

$10.  There are other sizes.  Google the phrase "split blade screw  
holding".  Klein tools was a major supplier to AT&T, they made many  of the standard 
telco tools.
