This KSR I am working on has an odd 1" tall screw stuck in the keyboard
drive shaft mount just to the right of the clutch.

This keyboard has the sync pulse solenoid but the conditioning contact is
missing (there are no wires for it either) - that contact is what I see
mounted in this location on another keyboard. But this tall screw isn't
like that one at all - is it there for a reason? or just a spare someone
stuck in the hole?
Yeah, the keyboard is rusty - this machine is a former rodent residence,
but I think I have got the keyboard running OK. Now on to the typing unit.
Cheers,
