There MUST be a wiring error, perhaps even an incorrect copy of the schematic... with the power switch off the AC circuit is open so no current can flow...   did you also check the switch to see if indeed it is an open circuit when in the off position?

Hi All,

As I am fixing a neglected specimen, something strange happens 
electrically. This machine has a governed motor, but with the 
powerswitch in the off osition, the motor hums very loud. the wiring 
seems to be right except for the missing bulb  and switch wiring on the 
motor module. Any thoughts?
