Good Morning All;
I can't say anything bad about it:
I was 20-something when I got the HAL ST-6 kit.
It went together in a matter of days.
The front looks great: all the hex-nuts (front panel switches)
are lined up nice and-straight. The inside, however is a
point-to-point mess. I used telephone wire.
OTOH, my filters are dead-on. I borrowed the equipment I
needed from work, and I had a huge box of capacitors I borrowed
from a guy who used to dismantle TVs. The boards are about as
ugly as can be - with those big brown caps - but, again, I
tuned it to death! :-)
The ST-6 I got from one of the guys on here, was built by
HAL. The job the (lady?) did wiring it is excellent, but
the filters are off far enough that I had to detune the
autostart threshold for it to receive ITTY. That might cause
a problem if it was used in the Amateur/Short Wave service,
but it just sits on the ITTY channel and is as happy as can be.
UE,
K2EAA - TONY

I have yet to see any problem, however
complicated, which when looked at in the right
way, did not become still more complicated.
