Hey Eric,
I am familiar with the Beaglebone, but not (yet) the Raspberry PI. My Linux skills are beginner level.
On a related note, many of you know that I am supposed to take over ITTY from George. That project is 80% done, but I am stuck on the last bits. The current ITTY setup is Windows XP based, but that’s a no-go for me. The ITTY audio encoder seems to work with windows XP only. Maybe it is 32 bit only, I’m not sure, but I could not get it to run correctly on a modern windows computer / OS.
Since I have been unable to find a decent (ie. one that enables sampling at a low bit rate and converting to mono) Windows based encoder nor a shoutcast client that is free, I am now investigating getting the encoder and broadcast aspects running on Linux. The Beaglebone was my first choice, but it does not have built in audio capability, so I am now planning to try the Raspberry PI. I’m hoping to use icecast instead of shoutcast because it is free, but I also need to use ogg instead of mp3. So I further hope that Windows Media Player, Winamp, VLC and such will work ok with an ogg stream. Geez - that is a lot of “hope” and I have much to develop and test yet before we can say that ITTY is ready to move.
OK, that was a long preamble to simply say that I have both a beaglebone and raspberry PI which I can use to test with you, Eric, if you want to try something out. I did not realize HM ran on linux. I’d have to load that and then load your adapter.
Paul
