One reason it came in a plastic bag.
When I was experimenting with slitting my own tape I also experimented with
oiling the paper by running it through a box that had heated oil in the
bottom
and the tape entered and existed through slots. The length and time in the
box was increased by using rollers /\/\/\/ (up around down around up ....).
A lot more was needed to be done.
