[GreenKeys] M15 How to disable unshift-on-space?

Trying to disable the unshift-on-space 'feature' on my M15 (ex-Bell
System). I was given a description of the procedure by Jim Hanes, who I
should mention has been extremely generous with his time and assistance.

I did my best to follow his advice, but so far I've been unable to turn
USOS off.

His procedure involves locating the Space function bar (from above) then
removing the printer unit and trace that bar to the bottom side. On the
bottom, proximate to the function bar, there is a second metal bar about 2"
long with a bend in the tip. This bar pivots on a single screw and has two
positions - one where it engages a feature on the function bar, and one
where it does not.

I moved the bar to engage the function bar, but this didn't disable USOS or
have any other effect that I noticed. So I'm stuck..

Am I working with the wrong parts, or is something else causing this? Does
anyone have a photo showing exactly what parts I need to be concerned with?
