[GreenKeys] Siemens T100 Teletype and Terminal Unit 1960's Australia

Hi Colin,

I've been working on some T100 machines lately, but all are of a
"special" version: one is a former computer terminal, working on
74,23Baud and using a different coil and characterset. the other one is
a T106 with a 6bit setup and 4 chars per hammer!. not only the platten
goes up and down, but also the basket.

I'm not shure what you mean by "terminal unit" If you mean the keyboard
and encoder, i.e. the sending part, that is actually just a nc
switchwith a mechanical way of going from parallel tot serial info.
there are no active components or voltages involved. In my
computerversion, the papertape reader has a separate serial encoder
switch and can be remotely controlled. on the regular teletype, sending
is controlled by a pushbutton.

some t100's have a timeout relay to shut of the motor after a certain
amount of time. on the t106 i made a mechanical system with metal wire
to retrigger that relay when a key on the keyboard is pressed, triggered
by a lever right next to the who-are-you drum assembly.

to get the machine working in local you have to set the printer coil and
keyboard sendswitch in series and apply a powersource. I have no idea
how much power to apply, as mine works on 5v 20mA, but you could start
by using a 9volt battery and increasing the voltage until the chattering
stops.putting wallwarts in series works as well.

identifying the proper leads to use is a different procedure. I have nio
idea what kind of cable comes out of the machine, but it could be one
with 2 to 8 wires. using a multimeter set to buzzer mode can identify
the several wirepairs, as they will be paired: one pair for the receive
coil, one pair for the keyboard with a short in neutral and another one
for the papertape sender. maybe another pair for changing the printing
colour, but that depends on the machine you have.

the papertape puncher is a completely mechanical affair.
