Two companies come to mind for in-house made fasteners (screws, washers,
etc) that were way above average quality and finish were Teletype and
General Radio
I've stripped a few GR instruments no one wanted or I got for free and
where in bad shape just for the hardware. and use that hardware for my
special projects.
There's just something about a a 6-32 screw and nut that has been made on a
swiss screw machine vs rolling.
