We are really lucky in Fayetteville, AR, at least for now.  A while back I
needed to replace an electrolytic cap and went to Radio Shack hoping to
find at least a suitable substitute.  In fact they had an excellent 
selection, much better than the usual RS store.  There's a sign in the
front of the store "Locally owned since 1979 and we're here to stay"
I've since found a pretty good selection of other parts there.  Prices of
course are quite a bit higher than you'd pay at a mail order place, but
then for a few small items you save with no shipping cost.  I sure hope
they know what they are doing and are able to make a go of it.
