I think the only good way is to resolder the type pallet on the end of the
bar.  There was a tool called a type pallet soldering jig - don't know
if I have ever seen one.  There was also a tool for slightly lowering type
without resoldering.  It had three prongs and was used to bend the type 
bar slightly.  I saw once a type basket that had been subjected to that
treatment, and it was not a pretty sight.
