Sorry, I must be confused.. my recollection was that 3-in-1 was a
vegetable-based oil that went rancid and turned to sticky, nasty gum over
time. As a personal example, I had a well-used can, and the little pop-out
spout had a coating of sticky, old oil on it.. it was so gummed up you
could hardly even pop the spout open to use it any more.
Was that not 3-in-1? Some other common, household / hardware store brand,
then? I swear, I was warned off of the stuff bigtime, many years ago.
