This sounds like a variation of "Ed's Red" bore cleaner without some of
the ingredients. Take a look at this or
search for it

derived from a very old formula,
sperm whale oil was an additive, Good stuff at the time but I prefer
Kroil for stuck things and Froglube for things that bang.
