Ah HAH!  I’ll have to try that.  The tractors mail list message I saw mentioned ATF.  I have not seen the original article it mentions.  Now, I can’t be sure what I used.

I may soon work on a professional film-to-video transfer machine.  I hope it has no stuck rollers, but don’t know yet. Compared to the Sony, these machines are a few notches up in precision and performance.

I think the real origins, and certainly the actual formulations, have been lost to history, buried in lore, and hidden as “proprietary ingredients”.  I’m reminded of a saying I heard recently:

In any situation there are three versions of the story:
- HER version
- HIS version

- and the TRUTH.
