[GreenKeys] Model 15 + C-64 Baud rate question

@Ralph & All
You're right, I hadn't gotten as far as 5 bit vs. 8 bit ASCII (or PETSCII)
- but don't the hi-end terminal progs for C-64 have configurable options
for this? Selections for data bits, stops bits, parity, are fairly standard
I +think+.
But as far as baud rate settings go, isn't that a limitation of the 64
KERNEL routine, rather than some hardware limitation? IIRC, the 64 doesn't
use a dedicated UART the way most RS-232 implementations do. The User Port
where serial comms are handled is controlled by one of the 6526 CIA chips.
If it comes down to it, I assume I'd have to write my own routines to
handle this stuff.
I can't see why it should be very difficult, at least to handle one-way
(printing) on the TTY side. Unless there's some lack of access (or speed is
actually an issue), it could be done in BASIC as the transmission rate is
so slow, even BASIC will probably need timing loops between bits.
Make sense?
