The WW2 Army TT-7 (mod 15 KSR) was contained in a wood box. The box,
after the machine was taken out,
became the wood "table." Very nice portable arrangement. However,
the motor was non-synchronous, with governor
that generated a lot of hash in receivers. The Signal Corps
obviously ran these on wire lines strung up in the field.
