Probably part of the appeal of the older ticker is just that shining brass under the glass bell jar. The 5A ticker has nothing to see. Then there's the Monopoly game, which forever makes the glass bell jar style of ticker associated with plutocrats. The game was never updated to show the rich guy with a 5A ticker.
