Good advice.  I did not see a pattern on the A or space.

Have you just tried it in local mode i.e. keyboards, printer, current supply only ?

Send 0000001, 0000010, 0000100, etc .. dont care about what is printing, is everything moving correctly ?
If so, what I do next is printing characters

A ASCII to Binary chart

http://rossparker.org/bwa/

Does 0 (zero) print ok ? Its a good starting point

Then print a just a 1 repeated, then a 2, 4, 8 .. your 'walking' the pattern. then A, B, D, H, P, X each one repeated until your happy with what is going on, the send patterns ABDHPX <null> and repeat that pattern.

Somewhere in my old junk is a pattern generator that has combinations built in.

Another test is <null> and <rubout> all zeros then all ones.

Where it gets to be fun is patterns that test the rotation and lift on the drum. But the same idea.

Yikes!

Lots of work done on the electronics.

Chances are that the 33 is not working correctly is mechanical and mostly due to congealed grease on sliding parts like codebars and the like.  Look over the printer and see if all parts move easily.  You can do this with the power unplugged.

Most 33 mechanical problems can be found by visual means.  Don't do any adjustments at this time.  Set the Rangefinder to 60 for now.  That's where most reside.

Don't spray any solvent into the keyboard contacts as sometimes the solvent will destroy the plastic block they are in.

I use Breakaway to loosen up sticking parts.  Also WD-40 works.  Either one in careful applications.

I  will attach a 33 training manual if you want to save it or print it.

Good luck,
