Jeff - I remember when the KNX tower came down.

KNX could be heard in Palos Verdes where I grew up by touching the
antenna lead of any small crystal set to anything large and metal. we
would build "man form Uncle" <<open chan. D> crystal set receivers
in ink pens as kids and reach over and touch the metal heating
register in class and listen in on good old KNX....

The only thing that could overload a set more than KNX was when they
were running the HIPAR RADAR at the NIKE LA 55 RADAR site at dead end
of Crenshaw across from where I lived.

with you being in Torrance I am not surprised if you could have
rectified the KNX signal and run devices off it!

He could probably copy it with the fillings in his teeth.

Growing up in Torrance, CA, we had KNX, 1070 AM 1.5 miles from the
house. Trying to build a crystal radio, the tuning across the dial was
basically, knx knX kNX KNX KNx Knx knx. No other stations.
Imagine how much fun we had suddenly when some disgruntled vandals
cut a guy wire and brought the tower down and they were off the air
for a day. ;-)
