[GreenKeys] A first look inside the Pasco 35 ASR

The REPEAT BID/SINGLE BID has to do with the 9140’s function.

The machine was on a multi-machine circuit and was regularly polled

for traffic. If a tape is in the TD, the operator can select it to be

picked up only on one poll, or keep trying until it goes. The

code for this function is the TSC, transmitter start code.

The Bell configuration was called 85A1, although there

were all sorts of variants. The machine also has a code

that it needs to receive to be able to print. The CDC, call

directing code” is usually two or three characters that the 9140

has to see before the machine “unblinds” an is able

to print.

You can see the code strappings on the 9140 cards.

The Lenkurt modem seems to imply it was not a Bell machine.

I am sure Professor Haynes can provide more info.

The phone numbers on the base's cover are from Bridgport Washingtion, a sleepy little town that in in 1977 had a population of about 1,000. The only thing of size that I can find that would of needed at Teletype was just next door is the Chief Joseph dam.

They mystery of "REPEAT BID / SINGLE BID" is still unsolved

No time to pretty up the pictures

Don't worry will not try powering it up :-)

Although the front shows Bell System the insides show GTE 1976

Keyboard is damaged, don't know how much but a link is dangling down

about the same area the 8 keycap is missing.

The Mode switch is 'floating' as in loose from its retaining nut

The sound deadening foam has made a big mess, not really surprised

There is a loose wire near the punch

Biggest bummer to me is the document in the base is empty.
