Hi Everyone
I’m sending this message as I’d like some more information on a Teletype printer a friend has in his garage.
The labels show: Printer is by Teletype Corporation of Chicago, NL, AC SYN motor, model No 55H25AB14B, type SH25A. The machine needs a lot of tidying up. A stamp next to the label “PMG 268” says “FUNGUS TREATED JAN 1945”.
We do not know how old it was when it was treated is not known. The model 15 was produced from 1930 to 1963. In its "receive only" configuration with no keyboard (which this is), it was the classic "news Teletype" for decades. This model was used to interface with the original Apple II with a home made interface and 110v -> 220v power transformer.
Maintenance on this unit appears to require significant knowledge in mechanical maintenance, something I and my friend lack.
For those reading this, perhaps you could email me at jeremybh1 at gmail.com with your ideas on a) Is it worth keeping for sale? b)If so, where is an appropriate place for it to go? c) Estimation of worth. Is it worth $20 or $200?
Thanks
Jeremy
