Hi all...
Many tks to all who posted such great info on the MITE
teleprinter...I had heard of these units some time ago, but
knew very little about them...Just reading all the informative posts on
these machines was a learning experience in itself!
As I recall this machine was developed to provide a small,
electronic teleprinter which cud be more cheaply made than
any of the M28 line that TTY Corp'n was offering at the time.
As mentioned in the many post, WU and the US Military were very interested
in these machines.
Now, to the little known Teletype TT-232 unit...I hear very
little abt this particular printer...Was it ever put into mass
production? From what little I know, it was supposed to
be a lightweight hybrid of some M28 & M32 product designs,
being constructed mostly of aluminum alloy parts. I believe
at one point, it was offered to the US Navy for evaluation/consideration...
Was this model Teletype Corp'n. response to the MITE?
I have never seen one, does anyone in the group have one
that they could comment on, with perhaps a few pics.
Thanks much for whatever the group can come up with.
Cheers!
