That would explain a lack of antenna connector on that unit!

If I remember correctly, the Hal HFC-1000s were not receivers at all, but rather were training aids in the use of the Racal RA6790GM receiver in various intercept operations. Several HFC-1000s, essentially an RA6790 GM simulator designed to look and operate like the actual Racal receiver, were connected to a central training console operated by instructors who sent simulated signals to the student "workstations", and observed the student's actions as they operated the simulated receivers.
