About 50 years ago I was having the snot scared out of me by the Daleks on 
the Dr.Who TV series...  I vaguely remember the Missile Crisis, but the 
Daleks were much scarier to a small kid.

Actually, today is International Dalek Remembrance Day!  It was this day 
in 1963 that those loathsome things appeared (and remember, they are not 
robots, but living creatures inside a suit of armour).
