I see the speed issue if you have a massive library of picture tapes
you want to read in and put online

But if we're trying to keep alive the history of our heavy metal, why does
the fact that the TTY readers (and printers) are slow even figure into the
equation? If all you're interested in is speed, go with modern
technology. Besides how many tapes do you have to read anyway?
