[GreenKeys] Dovetron Power Connector - GreenKeys Digest, Vol 116, Issue 24

I would recommend removing the filter and installing a standard cable/AC
plug.

As pointed out, those filters seem to go bad. I have made up an aluminum
plate

with a grommet that replaces the filter.

Just for information (for the adventurous types), the Dovetron Tempest units

use the same multi-secondary power transformer as found in the non-Tempest

models. That means there is a HV winding available to build an internal loop
supply.

In fact, the PC board traces are there for the diodes, capacitor and current

limiting resistor for a HV loop supply.

I obtained a power connector for the MPC-1000T from Mouser, $30+ It is
type MS3106A14S-7S. It is the cable end female connector (3 pin). Be sure
to order it with the matching cable clamp. You might be able to obtain one
used from William Perry Company or other surplus sources. Note that the
MPC-1000T uses an EMI/RFI filter on the power input that can trip GCFI
breakers due to the leakage current of the capacitors in the filter. You
can either use a 110V isolation xfmr or remove the filter and wire power
directly inside. And the other comment is correct, the Tempest version
does not have a loop supply nor does it do speed or code conversion.

Hope this helps

Yes, I will definitely need to step down the voltage. That's not too
difficult to do. The bigger problem is that our mains power here is 50Hz.
If
the tape printer has a synchronous motor, I will either need a 50Hz gear
set (presumably unobtainable!), or reduce the baud rate to 5/6 of 45.4
baud.
The other option is to power it through an inverter, to achieve 110v/60hz.

I am looking for a power connector for my Dovetron. It has the military
3 pin connector on the back. No idea what the number of it is. Anyone
have the AN or military id for it?

GreenKeyers - - -

I neglected to indicate the delivery dates of the various
shipments. My Bad!!

The lates should be this coming Wednesday, with most before that.

Your tracking numbers should be of some help.

Any problems please e-mail or call me on my cell. I will have all
of the Fire Sale Documentation with me.

Cell is 360-775-1128.

I should be leaving for Colorado within the hour and the cell
service should be pretty good all the way. I'll be in Delta then
Arvada.

Thanks for the tremendous response.
