I am sure  you can  run  dos  6  or    some version of  windows.
 
older  windows is  ok as long as  you do not  run  anything on it that has 
not  been   virus  checked on  something newer...  and  you keep it locked 
up real   tight   behind a fire  wall...

What software are you using in the  thrift shop computers?  I've been using
an old DOS program RTTY12G  that you can find on the web by googling.
I have to make a DOS bootable  floppy or CD-ROM to use it.  There is a
FREEDOS out there, but I've  never learned how to install it.
