Maury Goetz' name was usually pronounced like "gets" although something
approximating "gertz" would be more correct German.

At one time there was a rumor circulating that Teletype would be sold to
Western Union.  Mr. Goetz gave a talk to dispel the rumor, and added
something like  "For a long time now, whenever I have visited Western
Union on business, they have shown me a little desk in a dark corner
under a stair well and said, 'See here, Goats, we have a place for you
when we take over Teletype.'"
