What you have there is an automatic carriage return and line feed feature
for the Model 26.  Which is quite a boon in radio use since it prevents
having everything pile up at the end of the line if you get an error
while receiving a CR.  Some hams worked this out in the early days and
for a while there was a business making what was called the "Auto-Mate 26"

The paper roll is part of the table, if you have a Real model 26 table.
