[GreenKeys] Not Your Average M14 - eBay

While the FRXD is not a very common machine, the cover is even
more uncommon. It does have some parts missing.
The "right side" is basically a Model 14 reperf...the "left side"
is a TD with a "climbing head" that can read the last character
punched on the reperf.

It is an FRXD. One of the photos shows the tag. Compare it to this photo:

http://www.nadcomm.com/frxd.htm

The FRXD is the model 14/15-era predecessor of the model 28-RT. The
mechanism on the left of the photo is a transmitter-distributor with a
climbing head that reads up to the last character punched. These are
tape-relay units, not crypto.

Nick has a You-Tube of the 28-RT in action here:

The eBay one looks like it is missing the sheet metal cover that should be
over the tape reader on the left and the chad box on the lower right.

I have an NOS FXRD with the matching table and might (not sure) have a spare
chad box if someone on the list buys this.

This is an exceedingly curious bit of Teletype equipment as it looks at
first glance as though it were a M14 reperf, but it has more than one
station where tape is manipulated, in addition to what appears to be 5-bit
parallel electrical pickup on the far right front side...perhaps for use in
encryption? Anybody know this?
