Nice box, John. If I had one more CH-62 typing unit chest, I would have 2 completesets (with PE-77 power plant, RA-87's, BE-77 Line Units, and the ultrarare RA-43 tube amplifier). I hope to find one because it does make theCH-50 lighter when packed, and it's nice to have a built in operators seat.I would eventually like to find the transit chest for the TG-26 typing reperforatorand TD I have (thanks to Don House) and that thing is huge! I picked upthe correct jack box for this unit and although I could mount it to a table(the jack box dictates the TD and reperf being hard wired) I would ratherhave the chest. Kevin/WW2TTY

I understand the frustration with trying to ship a Model 15.
Because I take mine to steampunk conventions, I made a
carrying case:

I started with an Anvil road case of the type used by rock
bands for their equipment. I put in padded blocks to fit
the base of my machine, and foam at the top to hold the
machine down and in case the box gets turned upside down.
Finished the job with appropriate signs and paint.
If you have to ship a Model 15, it's usually best to pack
the typing unit separately. That's how the military always
did it. You need a box with a piece of wood on the bottom
drilled to match the three mounting holes of a typing unit.
Then you can bolt the typing unit to the box. That box
then goes in an outer box, with some padded filler.
During WWII, the military put the typing units in
sealed cans, which were then surrounded by 4 inches
of excelsior on all sides and put in an outer crate.
Does anyone have the U.S. Army two-crate set for a
Model 15?
