Ha! solved.
one relaiscontact was off, generating the parity error in the punch.
thing is working again.
fortunately i got some reverse engineering documentation with the
machine form someone who tried to connect it to his computer. no info
about what type of computer but there is 74ls14 written next to a gate,
so that would be somewhere in the seventies. he wrote it on used fanfold
wide carriage computer paper with some old printing on it dating
28-aug-1978 mentioning "sprint version 102A(2031) running on CDR011" so
i think the printout id from a pdp11. there is no indidaction of it
being printed on this actual flexo.
