No, you're not quite right!   I did buy some items from Bernstein-Applebee in the '50s but at the same time I also got stuff from Surplus Sales.   They now call themselves Surplus Sales of Nebraska but I'm pretty sure it's the same outfit---at least they still sell odd stuff and are still going strong!!

PS:   Today I'm interested mostly with new stuff and specifically software defined radio and one of these days I will send you a photo of my New Cat, Metis, sitting on the laptop that controls my Flexradio model 5000A.   Old Cat, Dongle met a bad end at the hands of some of my neighbors.....
