[GreenKeys] and now, for something completely off-topic

I was one of those high paid temp, or contract workers from 88 till 2010.

We were brought in to fix what the company people couldn’t, or didn’t want to fix and we didn’t care what it was as long as we got 50 per hour or more for doing it.

I guess we were the expendables <grin>

But it is different now.

They no longer bring us in to fix things, and they use a new breed to get around paying employees, contractors, etc..

It is like the companies are being run by mba’s and bean counters that are only interested in cutting the companies to the bone until they move on to the next victim.

I only wish I hadn’t been living out of motels for all those years because I might have a pretty nice shack by now where I could while away my forced retirement, but when one travels from town to town you carry less with you at each stop until you finally are carrying nothing but a laptop and clothes.

Ralph is absolutely correct on this. I worked as a no-benefits, double tax, temp. for nearly ten years. But on the plus side, without that income I would not have saved a 28KSR and two 28ASRs from the recycling center!

My parents never told me that life was fair. They did tell me to work hard.

The insurance was a big thing that kept me from retiring sooner. It would have been something like $ 1000 per month for me and my wife and we are in good health.

If self employed, they hit you double on the social security also. Many more hidden costs. ----- Original Message -----
