Ya... I hear ya (pun intended)...  but since there's no QoS on the Net
in general, you will always be at the mercy of the traffic flow outside
your control.

There doesn't seem to be a good/affordable solution for running a security
system over a VoIP connection either since most of those still use some
form of plain old modem to phone the event in to the mothership and any
codec used for VoIP will mangle most modem modulation... even plain old
300 baud FSK.
