it's time to bring back that "attaboy" stamp we used to have in the radio
shack on the W. S. Sims FF-1059
Forget what we used it for, but you get one...

GM Steve & al;
So: I'm at Lowe's home building supply, and I pick up a couple of light
bulbs.
I go over to the check-out registers and look around. No one is there.
A few minutes later one of the floor walkers shows up. I ask him when
a check-out person will be manning the register. He says in about a 1/2
hour.
I said Oh - OK - not a problem: I'll just wait.
He said why don't you use the automated check-out system?
I said I detest those things: I'd rather pay a few pennies more for an
item and give a person a job - than save a few cents and have him/her on
welfare.
He didn't say anything - but had a (slight) facial expression like "hey
old-timer - get with the program!"
Without skipping a beat, I said You know something? Next they're going
to put monitors and keyboards on all the aisles. When customers come in
they'll be able to type to a person in India who will direct them down
the aisle to the product they are looking for, and direct them to
websites where they can see a video of how to install it...
'took about 5 seconds for that to sink-in.
He opened the register and checked me out.
UE,
W6ESE - tony
