Ed, as an ex-Heathkit employee (I was a technician), my suggestion with this FB rig is to keep the output power low! The power supply and amplifier stages were designed for SSB duty cycles. When tuning, always keep the grid current to less than 1-mA under any conditions, and throttle the output power back to about 35 watts or so for RTTY, which means no grid current indication at all (Class AB1).
