GE OMs;
I ran an SB-101 for YEARS on RTTY and never had a problem.
o Put a cooling fan over the finals.
o Put a cooling fan over the power supply.
o Tune up for full power and then back the power down just a bit.
o If using AFSK, don't overdrive it.
o Irv Hoff told me a trick for running AFSK (and this is a bit
sketchy): If you replace the USB crystal with a LSB crystal,
the center of bandwidth will be perfect for normal 2125/2295 tones.
I unsoldered the USB crystal, drilling a hole in either the
circuit board or the chassis, and mounted a SPDT mini-toggle switch.
To switch to RTTY/USB all I had to do was open the cover and
flip the switch.
