[GreenKeys] Problems with AOL and 'bulk mail' situations

Ralph and Gil,

Thanks for looking into this.

To be clear, I get all the Greenkeys posts that others write and they get the ones I post. I just dont get back the ones I post like I used to.

I use aol as a web site email service only. No aol in my computer. I have also turned off the spam filter in my aol account.

It almost sounds to me like it might be a Greenkeys problem with my account. The not returning of my posts automatically.

Thanks,

Wayne

Hey Ralph:

Yeah, it's a bummer that aol is so screwy. Luckily I don't have to jump through hoops like you did, I can only say "oh well, not much I can do," and leave it up to the users to deal with it (like, get a friendlier isp).

I can re-enable bounce-disabled accounts (which takes a while) over and over, and I have set bounce trigger limits to max, but other than that I have no control over how mailman deals with the issue.

Surprisingly, it just does not seem to be an issue with other ISPs. Ya know, my credit card companies "learn" my habits so they can spot unusual activity...

You would think that aol would know that after a user has been getting daily email from greenkeys (for months or years or a decade, sheesh), that it is ok to whitelist greenkeys and not piss off their users. Just silly programming by inexperienced software types, I suppose.

Gil

I've encountered similar problems with AOL in trying to send out information to high school classmates
using AOL. I was 'blacklisted' as a suspected SPAMmer and was locked out of ALL AOL mailing! Even
other items not related to my classmates.

I had to work with Wide Open West, my ISP, to get this resolved. MORE THAN ONCE! For a reunion, a
few years back, I had to divide the AOL e-mail amongst several of the Reunion Committee members to make
certain that classmates got the info. Some of them were a bit reluctant to participate, since they
didn't want to get locked out of AOL, either.

Not pretty! Whoever writes the 'protective software' for AOL got carried away.

I hope that any future instances for GreenKeys will continue to be 'auto repairing' and that the mail
will go through.

Thanks for your ongoing efforts.
