Well  yes. I have a Stromberg Calson original Candlestick phone
with dialer. It works just fine at the shop out here in Ranger, TX.

You'll note that ALL the subsequent phone stuff that was introduced
to the market after the "Carterfone lawsuit" was based on the
-48VDC open and 6-10 mA closed line imepdances and 120 VAC
22 Hz ringer signal.

Ah indeed, backwards compatibility for over 100+ years.
