Alf,

I was aware of the older Jones plug but I've rarely seen them, so you're 
right I've caused more confusion. In the early 70s I worked for Redifon 
who used the twin row connector I described and meant when I said newer 
type. I think Plessey took over Painton perhaps in the 1960s or earlier 
which may be why they continued making that type of connector. I thought 
the twin row one was also made by Plessey which is how I got confused.
