early attempts at ergometric design to keep the fingers healthy..

early ttys had hard faced keys and then the cush ones were also
overlay... all my 15s have cushy keys on them

Are they are spring loaded? I've seen spring loaded key tops on an
underwood typewriter, and couldn't figure out why. They were pressed on over top
of the normal key tops, so they weren't replacements. I have no idea what
purpose the spring loaded tops served.
