For your amusement and edification, I've just posted three chapters
from a USAF training book on the 28ASR (AN/FGC-58)
Many thanks to James Tanton for scanning these and making them available.

They cover theory of operation of the 28 Page Typer, Typing Reperf and
TD in an interesting style -
>From the reperf chapter - "As with the page typer, one wonders how
this collection of madly oscillating levers and quivering springs can
remain together and perform so flawlessly - which it will do if
accorded proper maintenance."
