FWIW, greases using lithium salts were patented in 1942 and
widely used since the '50s.

In 1970, AP called for Lubriplate for the motors.
Assuming they meant the original, that was a calcium grease.

One thing you want to avoid is mixing dissimilar greases.
Pumping in new grease different from what's already present
can result chemical reactions and the oil separating from the
"soap", or forming wax.

Modern synthetic Mobilith SHC 100 might be a good choice.
