There has been a model 19 located in Port Angeles, WA., on and off
ebay for some time.
This past Friday I had the opportunity to look it over and the
following is what I found:
The machine is in good condition mechanically, and the selector is a
Holding Magnet type, somewhat unusual for WU. The motors are both
synchronous.
When attempting to turn the motor I found it to be almost locked up.
It will move but it is difficult to do so, indicating that either or
both the motor and main shaft will have to be disassembled and
cleaned thoroughly. The glass is missing.
It has a communications type set.
The machine has a Western Union background and is relatively dust
free, but has been lubricated with KS-7471 grease, which has
congealed nicely as it is prone to do. The covers are all in top
shape with no dents, dings, or abrasions.
The power supply is present and is the older type with the Mercury
Vapor rectifiers.
There is a spare TD that I did not bother to look at.
There is a small tool box crammed with Western Union type tools. I
did not dig deep enough to see of there were any spring hooks or
pulls, or any selector adjustment tools.
A few minutes ago I received a telephone call from the owner and he
is quite firm (adamant) on his price of $500.00 or more for the
machine.
He did mention that he had an ebay inquiry from somewhere in Texas
as to the shipping cost.
Crated I would estimate the weight to be close to 400 LBS, so if an
GreenKeyerr was the person who inquired about shipping, have a good
checkbook balance.
I would not mind having the machine, but the price is way out of
line.
